Teaser Tuesday, May 25 - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page either in the comments below or on your own blog (give a link to your blog so we can check it out!)
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week's teaser:

"Despite the widespread media coverage of the Moore suit, the Lacks family had no idea any of this was happening.  As the debate over ownership of human tissues played out around the country, the Lacks brothers continued to tell anyone who'd listen that Johns Hopkins had stolen their mother's cells and owed them millions of dollars."

p. 206, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

  1. And he still has my key. I st in the dark with my back against the door and the scissors in my hand facing my handiwork.(My curtains look good framing a window full of stars.) Now I have something else to add to tomorrow'a crowded itinerary, pay my late cable bill, get my oil changed, change the lock on my door, get my phone turned back on. Cry.

  3. Scissors in hand...did she just cut up his clothes? Put him out since she needs to change the locks? Give me more details, Shevi!

  4. You're welcome, Sharon. You can always come back later and give us a teaser. I find some really great books by reading teasers around the blogosphere.

  5. Let's just say R4P that she hems his pants......(LOL)

This is the first book by him that I read and I like what I've read so far. I also received Jesus Boy(which Thumper on (http://aalbc.com/reviews/jesus_boy.html gave a good review) and All or Nothing by him as well.
